One whole year of wearing the most expensive piece of jewelry I've ever owned! :) I love you, Ben. Thanks for asking ;)

Tonight we went to Applebees with all the other couples for dinner (half-off appetizers!). We had a great time, and the food was delicious. Plus Ben can take the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. :) Sometimes it seems like one of the biggest struggles out here is trying to figure out what the heck to put in his lunch ;)
Ben did great selling today (and yesterday) and he even won in a little competition between him and another guy. I'm so proud. :) I'm proud of him for working so hard everyday, and for having such a good attitude at such a hard job. I also had a great day hanging out with a few of the other wives. We went to the pool, baked cookies and brownies, played Canasta, and painted nails. Ben and I are both missing our house and Idaho a little bit, but we're glad to be here and liking it more everyday. :) Nighty night, R Today I...
It was a good day. :) R Today is the anniversary of when Ben and I started dating, two years ago. I can even remember the very night! I remember being giddy, and telling Crystal and Dionne (sis-in-law and niece) all about it, and I remember when Ben made it official on Facebook. ;) This is a picture of us just a couple of weeks after that. A lot has happened since then, and boy am I glad. ;)
Love you more than ever, Ben. R Tonight Ben and I went with some friends to a small fair about half an hour away! We had such a good time. We first stopped and got dinner - New York pizza! Then we went to the fair! It was a charming little fair with Beach Boys music playing in the background, and it felt so summery. Ben and I rode the Ferris Wheel, and then another ride that spins you in a circle while you're spinning in a bigger circle (classic carnival ride). We loved it. After that, there was a huge firework show! Perfect end to a wonderful night. :)
Happy Saturday! R I went yesterday with all the other wives that are here with their husbands for the summer to Times Square to do the annual Summer Solstice yoga event, and it was incredible!
Our class time was 3:30, so we checked in around 3, and headed to our spot. There were several large areas blocked off all throughout Times Square for different yoga groups, and we had a great spot right in the middle of a big group. There were 8 of us, so we pretty much took up a whole row! The class was a whole hour long, and it was kinda tough since it was my first time doing yoga (I kept falling over when we did the one-legged poses haha!), but I LOVED IT! It felt so good, and it was so peaceful. It was so surreal to be in the middle of Times Square, one of the busiest places in the world, but to be so at peace. I remember one particular moment when we were laying on our backs, and I was looking up and around at all the buildings, and I saw the ball (you know, the ball, the one that drops on New Year's Eve), and it just hit me all at once that I was IN TIMES SQUARE. I was laying on my back, more relaxed than I had been in a long time, in the middle of Times Square! It was a moment I will always remember. And since yesterday, all I can think about is doing yoga! I really loved it! So today, I rolled out my yoga mat (the one we all got for free from yesterday), and did a 20-minute beginner's yoga I found on youtube. I loved it, and I'm going to try to keep it up. :) Namaste ;) R Happy Summer Solstice! :)
I never thought my first time taking a yoga class would be in the middle of Times Square... but I was wrong! More tomorrow! :) Goodnight, R The rain is gone!!!
I do love rain most of the time, but here it's not so great since Ben has to walk around outside all day for work, and going to the pool is my main source of entertainment while Ben is gone. So waking up to the sun shining this morning made us both very happy. :) So I'm off to the pool! R I've been reading in the New Testament lately, and it has just been wonderful. I love reading the things Jesus himself said and taught. There are a few verses that really struck me the other day, and since then I've been going back and reading them every day.
"Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows." (Matthew 10:29-31) Sometimes I forget that our Father in Heaven is so aware and invested in our lives, and these verses have been a great reminder and a great comfort for me. This is my favorite picture of my dad. At our wedding reception in Utah, he played our Wedding Song, "La Vie En Rose", on his concertina while Ben and I danced. It was the stuff of fairytales. :) I love my dad. He is very talented and very smart. Growing up, I always knew he was smart, but it wasn't until I was off at college and my professors were telling me all these things that I had already heard from my dad that I realized how smart he actually is. In fact, I'm pretty sure he's the smartest person I know. He's also got a great Dad sense of humor, so in honor of Father's Day and my own father, here are some top-notch Dad Jokes: "Me: 'Dad, make me a sandwich!' Dad: 'Poof, You’re a sandwich!'” "Two guys walk into a bar, the third one ducks." "How many apples grow on a tree? All of them." "Dad, did you get a haircut? No I got them all cut." "Ill call you later. Don't call me later, call me Dad." And a classic, from my own dad: "What's green and red and goes really fast? A frog in a blender." Happy Father's Day! Love you, Dad. R |
