We are home!
As we pulled into Idaho Falls this evening, it really felt like home for the first time. It felt familiar, and full of wonderful memories. I loved driving down our street, parking in front of our house, and walking in our front door. I realized that for now it is home, because home is where B is, and where we can be together. I love you, babe. R

This morning:
3:15 - Got up 3:45 - Left my parents' house 5:15 - Arrived at the airport 6:00 - Boarded the plane 7:20 - Exited the plane because our flight was cancelled and rescheduled for tomorrow It's been a long day. Highlights have been 1) taking an Uber for the first time and 2) having an excellent nap when we got to B's dad's house in Santa Clarita. Tomorrow we are getting up at 5am for our flight, so it's a little better than this morning. I love thinking about how at this time tomorrow, we'll be snuggling in our own bed. Well, cross your fingers. R We went to church with my parents today, to my home ward that I grew up in. It was so good to see everyone!
In Relief Society, we talked about this talk from the October 2016 General Conference. Good Stuff. We're going to bed early so we can leave at 3:30 tomorrow morning to catch our flight back home! Goodnight, R I love Harry Potter. I love the books. I love the movies. I love the official merchandise. (lol) But I have put off taking the Pottermore Sorting Hat quiz for the longest time because, to be honest, I really wanted to be sorted into Gryffindor and I was scared that I wouldn't be. Here's a little bit of my thought process: "I guess it wouldn't be so bad to be in Ravenclaw. And Slytherin is pretty cool, but also pretty evil. (But not... Always.) But, let's be honest, I really don't want to be in Hufflepuff." But putting all those things aside, I finally took the test today. And I was sorted into.... Gryffindor! It was honestly one of the proudest moments of my life. But really the biggest thing I've learned through all of this is how to spell Gryffindor. R Today we got to go to B's cousin's wedding. It was so fun! They got married in the Los Angeles LDS Temple, which is where we got married (it was even in the same Sealing Room!) It was a beautiful ceremony, and it made me think a lot about when B and I got married just six months ago. It was like a flashback to our wedding day! But far less stressful. :)
It was the most beautiful day, and the weather was perfect for pictures. It was so fun to see them come out of the temple! That was my favorite part of our wedding day - seeing all of our friends and family out there waiting for us, and then watching them cheer for us as we came out! B was the Best Man so we had to stay for a lot of pictures, and then we went to the luncheon where we had sandwiches and cookies. (I am a cookie fanatic so I was very pleased.) Then we drove to Palmdale where the reception was going to be later that night, and killed some time at the mall. We eventually made our way over to the Palmdale Stake Center, finished up some homework for our online BYUI classes, and then it was time for the reception. The reception was beautifully decorated, with white fabric and lights sweeping up from the walls to the middle of the ceiling. There were fruits and veggies, as well as a waffle bar with tons of toppings, and breakfast sausage (as per the Groom's request). (B ate at least 10 sausages.) And the wedding cake was delicious! The Bride and Groom were glowing, and we are so happy for them. And also very jealous that they are on a cruise for their honeymoon right now; we went on a cruise for ours too and it was honestly the most stress-free week of my life! I'm trying to convince B that we should have a second honeymoon for our anniversary this year ;) Here's to hoping! R Tonight B went to the Bachelor Party for his cousin that's getting married tomorrow, so I am at home with my parents! (It is a totally G-rated bachelor party, by the way. I wouldn't have let him go otherwise ;). And what I love about B is that he wouldn't have gone otherwise.)
So while he is out Go Kart racing with his cousins, I am going to enjoy this night in with my mom! We made enchiladas together that are just about to come out of the oven, and we're planning on watching Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella and baking brownies later tonight. I love my mom. I've been looking forward to spending this time with her for a long time. Have a great night! R No post yesterday because I was super sick, but I'm feeling a lot better now. So I decided that the posts will be every day, except for when I'm super sick and it hurts to look at a computer screen. ;)
Today B and I flew to California for a family wedding this weekend! I was so happy when we stepped off the airplane; it just immediately felt like home. I love California! My parents were waiting for us in baggage claim, just behind the gate. They always do this for me and I love it. They also always have signs that say my name on them and I hope they never stop the tradition! Some highlights from the flight were: 1. There were a few families that were traveling together, and they had daughters around the same age (probably around 5-7) that were obviously BFF's. As soon as the seatbelt sign went off, these girls were jumping up and down on their seats, parading down the aisle like they owned the place, etc. It was so cute and so fun to watch. 2. A boy from one of these families (pretty young too, probably around 8) kept exclaiming things like "We're gonna die!!" and "Oh, we're landing soon. Now we're gonna die!" (He was totally joking and it was hilarious.) I've always been a little nervous on airplane flights, but for some reason his ridiculous exclamations made me more calm than usual. 3. There was a lady with the cutest dog ever across the aisle from us. B and I have been dying to get a dog but we're not allowed to have one in the place we're renting. That hasn't stopped us from pining for one though! This dog was a mini schnauzer - they are the perfect medium size, they look manly enough for B to be seen with it, and they don't shed. I think we found our dream dog! The best highlight, though, was getting to see my parents and coming home to their house where I grew up, and most of all, going to bed in 3 2 1 goodnight R Today's post will be very very short because I am very very sick.
B and I both had the day off for President's Day. At the beginning of the day, I was feeling a little sick, but not that bad. We went rock climbing at the new indoor climbing gym in town. It was fun! I'm not very good at climbing, but I am very good at watching B climb ;) I started feeling a little sicker there, and couldn't stop sneezing. (On second thought, maybe it was the chalk?) We ended the evening watching Raising Hope and playing Phase 20 (Phase 10 with ten more phases.) I am now feeling very sick, and the floor on my side of the bed is covered in used tissues. But at least I won Phase 20 ;) R Today I was reading a hilarious story about one of my friends twisting her ankle, and it made me think of the part in Anne of Green Gables when Anne is walking along the top of the roof, then tragically falls and twists her ankle. This friend and I both love Anne Shirley, and I knew she would get the reference, so I quickly googled "ann shirley ankle twist" to see if I could find any pictures. And do you know what happened??? Google automatically CORRECTED my spelling of Ann to "Anne with an E". 1. How could I be so dumb as to spell it wrong when the number one rule of Anne Shirley Blythe is that ANNE IS SPELLED WITH AN E??? 2. How amazing is it that Google literally corrected me, and in a supremely snarky way, I might add. It literally said this: Never making that mistake again! R B and I moved to Idaho Falls late last September. Idaho Falls is so beautiful in the Fall. The neighborhood we live in is pretty old, so it's filled with huge trees that were all red and yellow and orange for those first couple months. It was Fall HEAVEN!
Before we moved out here, everyone would ask us, "Have you been through a Winter there yet?" and we'd say no, and they'd say "Good Luck!" While B and I are both from California, he is from an area that would get snow pretty regularly in the Winter. I, however, am from the Desert. No snow, ever. Except I think one time where it snowed like half an inch and they cancelled school! Me and my friends tried to sled. HA. Here they don't cancel school unless it is 20 degrees below zero. So now we can officially say that we've been through an Idaho Winter! And it really wasn't that bad. Yes, it was very cold, but we are lucky to have a nice warm house to snuggle up in. And I loved having snow for Christmas! We even watched White Christmas during our White Christmas. (B loved the movie so much that he wants to watch it on Christmas day every year. I love him.) It's finally starting to warm up, and it's been around 35-40 degrees most days. Today I checked the temperature and saw that it was a whopping 46 degrees!! So I got B's bike out and took a ride around the neighborhood. It was fun, but it would have been more fun with B. He was at work. He still is. I hope he gets off early. 46 degrees feels a lot colder when it's raining, so I didn't ride for too long, but I can't wait for it to warm up even more so we can ride the bike path along the river! I can't wait for Spring. I'm slowly adding more and more color around the house to make it feel less like Winter, at least on the inside. Right now I'm working on painting or drawing something colorful for the bathroom. I'll post some pictures when I'm done. My favorite part of today: Our wedding song came on my Pandora today, and made me feel all giddy all over again. I love you, Babe. R |
