We've been on a huge pizza kick lately. Here's a picture of our pizza tonight... We started with homemade pizza dough. (I made a white flour dough instead of whole wheat this time.)
Then rolled out the crust and spread olive oil all over it. (No pizza sauce for this one.) Next, I layered spinach, then the cheese. (I learned this trick working at Domino's - the spinach has to have something covering it or else it will burn.) We topped the cheese with roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, chicken, and feta cheese. And finished it off with parmesan sprinkled on top. DELICIOUS!!!

Today I had to write and turn in a monstrous essay, so B went to the store and got me some ice cream for motivation.
Later, when I had finally finished the essay and we were eating the ice cream, B found a piece of cookie dough in it and instead of keeping it for himself, he gave the cookie dough to me. I can think of no truer expression of love. ;) R We both had the day off work today (YAY) so we got to sleep in.
I woke up first (I always do), so I laid next to B, checking Facebook and my email until I couldn't take it anymore so I started shifting and nudging and poking until he woke up. ;) I can be pretty annoying in these situations, but he is always very patient with me, even when he's just waking up. Thanks, babe. ;) We both wanted to do something fun since we had the day off, so we looked up movie times and saw that Moana was playing at 11:30. We had less than an hour, so we got ready really fast and ran out the door! We knew we would have to stop by Walmart first to get a few snacks, but we were running a little late so we RAN into Walmart, got our stash (Cadbury mini eggs for me, chewy candy galore for B), and RAN out. It totally looked like we were stealing something, the way we booked it out of there, but we didn't care - we had a movie to catch! (The last movie we went and saw was La La Land and we got there late due to Friday night traffic, so we missed the first 10 minutes, and we were NOT going to go through that again.) B used his mad driving skills to get us there at 11:30 on the dot, and we got our drink and popcorn and found some seats. AND THE MOVIE WAS SO GOOD! We loved it. The humor was great, I almost cried like 10 times, and we loved the music, especially the song "Shiny". (I loved that they had a villain song in it, like the classic Disney movies.) And now we are both dying to go live in Hawaii. Aloha, R Today while B was at work, I decided to work on something to make the house look a little more Spring-y. So I turned on Gilmore Girls in the background (I can only watch it when B is gone because he can't stand Lorelai) and ended up making a couple banners. One says "Welcome Spring" and the other says "Bloom". (I used a calligraphy pen and watercolors.) I have this theory that crafts, particularly sewing, always take approximately four times as long as you think they will, am I right?!? Anyone who has ever sewn anything will agree (unless you're an EXPERT, maybe). Combine my theory with a leisurely Sunday-afternoon pace and, naturally, the banners took a lot longer than I expected. So about five episodes later when I finally got up and casually glanced out the window, I had built my Spring-y hopes just high up enough for them to all come crashing down when I saw that it had been snowing. And sticking. NOOOOO! It was actually pretty funny. I guess we'll just have to wait a while longer before we can enjoy Spring outside. Meanwhile, we'll be SMOTHERED with it inside. :) I'll make sure of it. R I love Saturdays because they are the only day we get to sleep in.
Monday-Friday we wake up pretty early for work, and then we have church at 9am on Sundays (Too early for me. I think 11am is the optimal church time - there's time to sleep in and time for a nap) :) So this morning was great because we slept in until about 9:30. After that, I had most of the day to myself because B had work, so I did homework and cleaned up the house. I don't know if it's that I'm sick of Winter and craving Spring or what, but I am DYING for some color in this house! I've always loved calm, neutral colors, so our house is full of white, gray, and beige. It isn't necessarily boring-looking because there are a lot of different textures and patterns, but recently I have just been aching for color! I'm trying to think of ways to incorporate more color without having to spend a lot of money or do anything major like paint. Any ideas? Maybe some artwork? Fun Fact: B served his mission in London, England so he spells color like a Brit - "colour". We ended the night with another whole wheat pizza (the dough worked this time) and a few episodes of Raising Hope. And now we're off to bed. Oh and I found my old camera today, so hopefully I can get some pictures up on here soon! Night, R One of the funniest things about living in Idaho is the abundance of blue hair. Is the blue hair just an Idaho thing or is it nation-wide? I'm pretty sure it's an Idaho thing; I've never seen this much in one place before.
B says that three of his coworkers have blue hair, and there are at least 10-15 kids (mostly girls) at the High School I work at with blue hair. And it is not a big high school. Plus I see it around town all the time! What's with all the blue hair? What does it mean? It is such a mystery to me. In other news, I ordered Girl Scout cookies today. I ordered Thin Mints for B, Savannah Smiles for me, plus a few others. There is a new S'mores cookie this year which I will give a full and detailed report on once we've tried it. I also worked out today, then about 20 minutes later I proceeded to eat a good 40 Cadbury Mini Eggs. Sweet dreams! (I know mine will be sweet because I will be dreaming about Girl Scout cookies and Cadbury eggs) :) R This is a photo of B that I just found, and I love it. This is when we first starting dating and he was in Hawaii for two weeks (without me). But I was in Hawaii for almost a year without him (going to school). Someday we'll have to go to Hawaii together.
* * * Today is our 6 month anniversary. 6 months sounds so short, but we've grown SO much closer in just that amount of time. I can't wait to see where we are six months from now. These are 6 of my favorite things about my husband of 6 months: 1. He always makes sure that the last thing he says to me on the phone or before he goes to work is "I love you". (I think this is in case we die? Geez, I thought I was the morbid one.) 2. He laughs at my jokes. And better yet, he thinks my jokes are FUNNY. 3. He is an excellent driver. Yes, babe, you are a better driver than me. I admit it. 4. He loves my nieces and nephews as much as I do. 5. He always scrapes the ice off the car for me. Every morning. 6. He knows how to take care of me. Like really take care of me. Today I was upset because my whole wheat pizza dough I was so excited about didn't rise like it should have, and he just walked over to me and hugged me tight for a good minute. It was the best thing in the world, and after that I didn't care about the pizza dough. (But the pizza did turn out pretty great even without perfect dough, and B ate 5 pieces.) :) I love you more than ever, Ben. Here's to the next 6 months, R My favorite parts of today:
1. I went back to work, after being gone for a whole week. It was actually really good to see all the kids at school, even the noisy ones. :) 2. I got to sub in the afternoon, and it was the best sub job ever! We watched the first half of To Kill a Mockingbird (one of my favorites) for 4th and 6th period, and 5th period was the teacher's prep period, so I just kept watching the movie (you know, for educational purposes...) 3. I went grocery shopping before picking B up from work (he hates going grocery shopping, so he was glad I did it while he was at work), and got a TON of produce! I recently made a resolution to integrate more healthy foods and less processed foods into our meal plan, so by the time we have kids I will (hopefully) be an expert at making tasty, healthy food. So I bought a great variety of fruits and vegetables, and also some whole wheat flour so I can make some homemade whole wheat bread and whole wheat pizza dough! 4. The grapes I bought are SO DELICIOUS. And now I'm going to see if I can find To Kill a Mockingbird on Netflix so I can finish it. xoxo, R |
