A few nights ago, Ben and I pulled our mattress out of our bedroom into the living room, and we've been having movie nights and "sleepovers" out here ever since. It's been a lot of fun. :) Sometimes a little change is so refreshing.
And speaking of refreshing, I was looking at a recipe for Dole Whip online the other day, and the post the recipe was in was talking all about Disneyland and even had a link to a Disneyland vacation-planning website. And since then I've been obsessed with planning our Disneyland vacation. ;) I've been wanting to go with Ben for such a long time, so I'm hoping we can go this year for our anniversary or for Christmas. (crossing my fingers!)

Today was a rainy day, but that didn't stop Ben from going surfing this morning!
I stayed home and slept (story of my life), which turned out to be a good thing because the other wives that did go ended up leaving early because it was freezing! The guys still go out selling on rainy days, and Ben did great! Rainy days used to be miserable for him because he didn't have a rain jacket or an umbrella, but now that he does, they're not as bad. I'm so proud of him for having such a great attitude even when the weather sucks. ;) The pools weren't open because it was rainy, so a bunch of the wives got together and painted watercolors and watched Call the Midwife (my favorite show ever!). Then a couple of us watched a chick flick and made brownies, and I just got home! Annnnnd Ben just walked in the door so we're gonna make dinner :) Tonight we had Chinese a la Trader Joe's for dinner! Haha :)
I got a bunch of freezer food from Trader Joe's the other day, and a lot of it ended up being Chinese food like Kung Pao Chicken, potstickers, and Chicken Chow Mein. What's really funny is that instead of saying "Trader Joe's" at the top, it says "Trader Ming's" in the same font. Haha! I think it's cute. :) So tonight we tried the potstickers and the Kung Pao Chicken, and they were both SO GOOD! Especially the Kung Pao. I'm excited to try the rest. :) Goodnight, R A few of my favorite things recently: The view as I got ready to write this post. Yes, that is some fresh juice peeking out from behind the laptop haha :) My pretty white flowers that I got for only five bucks at Trader Joe's. A freezer FULL of food. One of the most beautiful sights in the world. ;) This popcorn!!! I'm addicted! And these Peanut Butter Blossoms (although my mom's are much better).
A few more favorite things that I don't have pictures of:
The past two days have been great! Sorry to anyone reading for being absent. (And also, thanks for reading.) :)
On Sunday, Ben and I got put into Primary at church, but we ended up being in Nursery, which is where I think they'll have us every Sunday. I honestly wasn't really looking forward to it because I've been loving Sunday School and Relief Society in this ward, but it turned out to be really great. Plus I got to spend extra time with Ben and watch him take care of babies. ;) Then after church, the whole sales team that Ben is on got together at the pool area to hang out and grill up food! It was so fun. The weather was so nice. Ben grilled us some steak (I don't know which is better, watching him grill steak or watching him take care of babies hahaha!) I read my book and chatted with the other wives. Ben played Cornhole with the other guys (for those who don't know what Cornhole is, like me before Sunday, it's basically like a competitive beanbag toss game). It was a perfect Sunday evening. Then yesterday, I spent most of the day at the pool and hanging out with the other wives. I also starting sorting through our wedding pictures to pick out the ones to put on Facebook, and I'm still not done, but it's a lot of fun. :) And when Ben got home (from a great day selling), we went out to eat with everyone at Smokey Bones. Now that the weather is warming up, it's getting to be a lot of fun being out here. And for today, I'm just about to head to the pool! :) R When Ben got home from work today, we decided to go try out the pool that's right across the street from our apartment! (In our apartment/townhouse complex, there's a big main pool and a couple smaller ones throughout the complex, and one of those smaller ones happens to be like 50 steps from our front door. Score!)
So we walked over, and it turned out to be great! It wasn't very crowded, and the pool water was actually warm, so a baby like me had no problem getting in. Oh and there was also this older guy that was playing with his kids in the pool and he kept yelling with his Long Island accent, and it was hilarious. So we swam and laid out in the sun and listened to the funny guy have contests with his kids about how could hold their breath underwater for the longest amount of time and I read my book, and it was really nice. Then we went with a bunch of the other couples to the beach! Ben brought his wetsuit and surfboard, and surfed with a couple other guys for the whole time. I am so proud of B because one day he just decided he wanted to surf, so he got the stuff for it and now he goes every chance that he gets! He is always willing to try new things (and always good at them), and I love that about him. The beach was pretty cold, so we only stayed for a few hours, and then we went to this little hole-in-the-wall restaurant called Mexican Grill 2000 which has the best fish tacos. We got our tacos to go, and ate them at home with a couple episodes of Friends to keep us company. :) Then we went to the grocery store, and came back and had a movie night with Dallin and Keara! I, of course, got a nice nap in during the movie, which is why Ben is knocked out next to me and I am wide awake as I type this. :) But I should go to sleep. Sunday is our only day to sleep in together! Goodnight. R This title both accurately reflects what this post is about, and pays homage to one of my new favorite movies. (Can you guess?) ;) The weather has been getting nicer here, so we've been able to spend a lot of time outside! Soon we'll be going to the beach a lot too. :) Ben stayed home another day, and we had another wonderful day together. :) It sounds silly, me saying it was wonderful with him being so sick and everything, but it really has been so nice. We haven't gotten to spend a whole day (or two!!) together just relaxing in such a long time, so it felt like a vacation.
We watched some movies, rested, took a walk, laid outside in the sun, and rested some more. We watched the Trolls movie, which we loved! One of my nieces is having a Trolls birthday party later this month, and the other day when we were on the phone she told me that she is "in love with Branch" (one of the characters in the movie). Haha! :) So now I'm having a lot of fun looking for the perfect present for her. :) For dinner, we made these chicken teriyaki tacos I found a recipe for on Pinterest. They were aight. But what made dinner really interesting was that I put some tortillas in the oven with the broiler on to heat them up, and then I forgot about them so when I finally opened the oven again, they were burnt to a crisp. So I took them out and threw a couple more tortillas in and I made sure NOT to forget about them that time, but when I opened the oven they were ON FIRE. And not just little flames either haha. (I realized later that they must have puffed up when they got hot and caught fire on the broiler.) Anyway, Ben blew the flames out, but not before every single smoke detector in the apartment went off (there are at least three)! So we threw open all the doors and windows and started fanning the detectors. It turned out to be pretty funny, and we decided that cold tortillas were good enough after that. ;) It really was a fun day. :) I love you, Ben. Everything is fun with you, even smoke alarms and mediocre tacos. ;) R Today was so wonderful (for me at least). For Ben, it was probably pretty miserable. He stayed home from work because he has pretty much every sick symptom you could come up with: chills, fever, nausea, coughing, sneezing, runny nose, etc.
The reason the day was so wonderful for me is that we got to spend the whole day together (which never happens, except on Sundays, but we have specific things to do on Sundays), so it was so nice to be able to spend an entire day, doing whatever we wanted together (as long as it didn't irritate any of the above symptoms). I never, ever, in my wildest dreams would have thought I would say this, but we spent the day having a Twilight marathon, and it was one of the funnest days of my life. I had only ever seen the first two movies, so the last three were all new for me (I never read the last two books either). And I've gotta tell you - those Twilight movies are just so dang entertaining. Maybe because I was wayyyyy into it all when I was like 13 and it was bringing it all back? Or maybe because they're super dramatic and it's fun to make fun of Jacob being such a downer and the part where Rosalie crushes the glass bowl in her hands (LOL). Whatever the reason, I don't care, it made for a dang fun day. Ben is still feeling very sick, and I'm hoping he can get some good rest tonight. We were both tossing and turning last night, and we've been up since around 5 this morning. So I got some Nyquill at the store and we meant to go to bed earlier so he could get some good rest tonight, but to be honest, we just couldn't stop watching Breaking Dawn: Part 2. ;) So it's now past two in the morning, we're finally going to sleep, and I'm admittedly very sad that the marathon is over. We'll have to find another saga to watch in case he stays home again tomorrow :) R Yesterday my adorable little niece called us twice to tell us that she went "peepee in the potty!"
I love her and miss her so much, and I never want to forget those phone calls. :) |
