I distinctly remember thinking to myself two years ago, "I wonder where I'll be when Beauty and the Beast comes out." 2017 seemed so far away!
Well Beauty and the Beast came out tonight, and it's crazy to think how different things are now - since then I have lived in France, lived in Jerusalem, gotten engaged, and gotten married. If I told myself two years ago that all that would happen, myself two years ago would have to take a nap. Beauty and the Beast has always been my favorite Disney movie, and after Disney's remake of Cinderalla (a masterpiece, in my opinion) I was even more excited. And I am pleased to say that Beauty and the Beast was wonderful. I absolutely loved it. The music was gorgeous. (The old and the new.) It was visually stunning. (Like dessert for your brain.) And although I wasn’t too sure about Emma Watson as Belle at first (she will always be Hermione to me), by the end of the movie I had come around. She made me believe that she could be Hermione and Belle. And I, for one, loved that they kept it very similar to Disney’s original version. There are some that are critical of this, but I think it’s what most people were hoping for, and it was a pleasant surprise for me. It’s like they took what was already a great movie and amped it up x1000. Add in all the dancing and costumes and scenery and I think it was every bit as good as my beloved Cinderella. A masterpiece, if you will. R
