"Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes When I was around 15 or 16, this was my favorite song. It wasn't really a popular song at the time; I had come across it while listening to Pandora, and none of my friends were listening to music like it, so I just enjoyed it on my own.
Then one day, when B was giving me a ride home from a church activity or something, this song came on the radio and he turned it up. "You like this song?!" I asked. He did. Of course he did. Pretty sure it was a sign. ;) So we turned it up even more and sang it out loud until he dropped me off. After that, it kind of became our song. It wasn't "official" or anything, it just reminded us of each other, and we played it when we were together. Then when B left for his mission to England, I taught myself how to play it on the piano. I wanted to get it down perfectly so I could play it for him once he got home. I'm sure my mom still remembers me playing it over and over again, trying to get it perfect. (Thanks for your patience, Mom. It must have been so annoying.) After what must have been hours of practice, I eventually got it down to where I didn't make any mistakes, and it sounded pretty darn good. Then one day when B was home and we were dating, I casually played it for him like it was no big deal. It was a big deal. I love you, Ben. R
