Today is a day like any other. B is at work, and I'm at home doing homework and laundry with Gilmore Girls in the background.
On his break, B messaged me and said, out of nowhere, "Are you happy? I'm happy. I want you to be happy." And at that moment, even though I was working on a HUGE essay (probably my least favorite thing in the world to do, no I am not kidding), I was completely happy. Content. At peace. And it really got me thinking. I am happy. We have a beautiful home that I daily put my heart into, we've got all the essentials plus a bit more, we have wonderful family, we have jobs and a sense of security, and on top of it all, we have each other and we enjoy spending time together. So even though the house is a little bit of a mess, and I've still got like 10 pages of my essay to write, and I know the Rory/Dean breakup is coming soon and that sucks, yeah I am happy. And I am very thankful. And I know this is such a cheesy post but I really want to remember how I'm feeling today. :) (And I would also like to point out that the title of this post is a little ironic because it's pretty much the same as yesterday's title but it now has a completely different meaning. Ha!) R

Gratitude is a large source of happiness... For one, when a person thinks of the things, or events, that (s)he is grateful for, just thinking about those things, creates more feelings of happiness. In addition to that, gratitude causes one to look for even more things that one is grateful for. It works as a spiral, creating a string of happy feelings and happy occasions. Too, often, when we are not choosing to be grateful, we overlook much of what we would otherwise notice, that would give us greater feelings of happiness...
