I know it's like a month late but I thought I'd write about Valentine's Day. :) Last year for Valentine's Day, we went to Olive Garden for an early dinner to beat the rush, and Ben got me flowers and chocolates and I got him a big jar filled with red Starburst jelly beans (which he probably ate within the day. He loves those. The other day I got Ben some Starburst jelly beans because they were on sale for Easter, and those jelly beans were got so fast. And then the next day we were over at his mom's and she had some, so he ate all of hers too). Anyway, it was a pretty great Valentine's Day last year except for the fact that I had a massive paper due THAT NIGHT for one of my classes. Who assigns a paper that's due on Valentine's Day?! So after dinner, I spent the rest of the day working on my paper and that was just awful. So I was determined that this Valentine's Day would be different. :) And it was, but for other reasons. Since the first day of school back from Thanksgiving Break, I had been doing a long-term sub job at the high school. I loved it so much for at least the first month and I never wanted to leave, and then it got really really hard for a bit, and then I loved it again but I knew I would be a little happy when it was over, even just for the extra time I needed for my online classes. And my last day ended up falling right on Valentine's Day. So not only was February 14, 2018 one of my favorite holidays (I love flowers and chocolate and pink and red and fancy dinners and jewelry), but it was also the culmination of this massive experience. So to celebrate, I covered the classroom in red and pink streamers and hearts, and I had parties in all my classes. I had them all pick a movie to watch and I handed out Valentines and we had a big pizza party during lunch. It was so fun. I was really sad to say goodbye to some of my favorite kids, and others I wasn't so sad to say bye to. ;) It was this huge, awesome, hard, rewarding, exhausting achievement, and I'm proud of myself for doing it. So after I put all the grades in and cleaned up the classroom (Ben helped me a ton and I'm so grateful), we went home and got ready for dinner! We forgot to take pictures, but Ben wore a nice sweater and I wore a little burgundy dress, and we went to Olive Garden again so I guess it's kind of a tradition now. :) Ben got me red roses and a beautiful necklace and earrings. And I don't have a picture of the necklace because as soon as I opened it, I put it on and I haven't taken it off since. But I'll take a picture soon. :)
I got Ben some treats and a bunch of t-shirts (he specifically told me these t-shirts were what he wanted) and some other new clothes because he won't ever get them for himself. :) It was a really wonderful day!

Wow! What a fun, dedicated teacher you are! Those students were lucky to have you, and I know Ben realizes he’s lucky too! Hey I’m lucky too to have you as my daughter!! (P.S. Thanks for all the help you gave me over the years with all my endless school preparations!! Couldn’t have done it without you!)
