Ever notice how much I wink? ;)
Well, I used to not only do it in writing, but in real life too. One time, while I was going to college in Hawaii, I was walking to either my job interview or the job itself (spoiler: I got the job), and I was talking to my mom on the phone so I was a little distracted and also probably laughing (because she is the funniest person I know). Anyway, at one point this guy held a door open for me. And since I was a little distracted talking to my mom, and I was so used to winking, I just automatically winked at him as a sort of "thank you". HAHA! And THEN, as I realized what I was doing, mid-wink, I was mortified and tried to play it off as blinking. Super graceful. ;) Goodnight :) R

Today we went shooting with Ben's mom and cousin!
It was my first time shooting a gun, and I was pretty nervous. But the rest of them all had experience, so that was reassuring. And I actually loved it! I even hit some targets (bottles, cans, etc) within my first few tries. :) Of course Ben was fantastic. Burglars beware ;) "It's about three hours long." "Yeah but half that is credits." Can you guess what movie the above exchange is about? ;) The Sound of Music. :) It just seemed like an Easter-y movie, so we're watching it right now. Here's what our Easter looked like: Not Pictured: The Swig knock-off cookies that we're having for dessert. ;) Today was wonderful! What a lovely first Easter together. Ben's mom is here, which made things a little more festive, and I made a big meal (once upon a time the idea of cooking for four hours straight was inconceivable, but now it's something I - dare I say - love doing.) We had Easter baskets, a delicious lemon cream cheese danish for brunch, and Ben and I even hid eggs for each other to find. But the most important thing about Easter is the whole reason for it all - the resurrection of the Savior, the miracle that changed the world. He lives! And I am better because of it. Happy Easter! R We got to go to the Idaho Falls Temple open house today, and it was wonderful! The temple was breathtaking. Ben loved the woodwork, I loved the furniture, and we were both stunned by the gorgeous murals. We also loved the refreshments afterwards. Also, let today be marked as the day that we found out that we both got straight A's last semester! R So today I went and did some last-minute Easter shopping, and while I was at Target, I saw some of the most beautiful clothes I have ever seen. Victoria Beckham has a line there, and I don't know if it's just a temporary thing or if she's gonna have stuff there from now on, but part of me wants to go stock up on it all! Okay let me backtrack a little bit. When I'm talking about clothes, I'm talking about toddler/baby girl clothes. I pretty much don't even care about clothes my size anymore. Every time I'm at a clothing store, I make sure to look at the toddler/baby girl clothes. (Can you tell I'm dying for a baby girl?) (No I am not pregnant.) I especially love Old Navy because they use the same fabrics and prints for the women's clothes and the baby girl clothes, and you just know I'm planning on matching my baby girl every day of her life. ;) Okay back to today at Target - the best thing was that a lot of it was rabbit-themed!!! (Which is very possibly my very favorite theme for little girls. I'm planning on doing a rabbit/Alice in Wonderland themed nursery/little girl's room.) There were rabbit tails, rabbit blankets, bibs, sweaters, and my favorite thing (which I did end up trying on in my size) was this black dress with a white collar, with little rabbits right on the collar. If I had a baby girl to match, I would have bought it. ;) Dear Future Self: Remember what you saw today. Remember the clear raincoat with flowers sewn in the hem, remember the rabbit details, remember the bumble bee prints. Dear Future Daughter: We're going to match. You're just gonna have to learn to love it. :) Thanks for indulging my inner Fashion Design and Merchandising Major ;) (I've thought about it. Beautiful clothes get me excited like silly sports games on television get other people excited.) R Today was wonderful. Work was good, and when I got home Ben and I had french bread smothered with Nutella for lunch (if that isn't wonderful I don't know what is). Then he put up this beautiful chalkboard he made for me! I LOVE IT! And I had a great time drawing on it. Then when Ben left for work, I took a blissful nap: on the couch, tv show on in the background, sunlight streaming through the window, cozy blanket. I'm pretty much an expert on napping and I've concluded that those are the absolute best conditions for a successful nap. ;) And after that, my mom and I talked on the phone for a good long while. I love talking to her. Love you, mom! And now I'm getting dinner ready for when Ben gets home and hopefully I won't drop it on the floor like last night. :) So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, adieu. R Ah, I love a clean kitchen. And whenever I actually hunker down and DO the dishes, it really isn't all that bad - almost enjoyable, even. Then some magic spell is cast and I forget that it wasn't actually torture and so I put it off again until the dishes must be done, and then I realize again that is really isn't that bad, and the cycle just continues.
Guess who got tickets to the VIP tour of the Idaho Falls temple this Saturday?! That's right! We did! Actually Ben did (thanks, babe). We were a little sad that we were probably going to miss the open house and definitely miss the dedication because we're going to be in New York, but the VIP tickets are easing the pain. ;) Speaking of the temple, Ben happened to be riding his bike over by it today and got to see the Angel Moroni being put on top! He said it was really cool and then I said I was really jealous. I am dying to do a juice fast! My sister-in-law just did one and it made her feel SO amazing, and I really want to regain some energy and get rid of some junk in my body. The problem is we don't have a juicer, and since we leave in 13 days, if I order it now it won't get here in time to do a full ten days before we go. So I think I'm just going to order one once we're there, which means waiting a little longer, but it's also making me look forward to it more! And that way I can ease into it a little bit by eating lots of fruits and veggies so it's not a total shock for my body. You know what I also love? A clean bathroom. But I think I'll save that for tomorrow. ;) R You know how a lot of people keep track of their kids' current favorite foods, shows, activities, etc? Well, we don't have any kids so I'm just going to do it for the two of us. So we can look back in ten years and remember what we were into in 2017. :) Favorite food: lots of fruits and veggies (for me anyway). I crave grapefruit daily! Ben, however, hates grapefruit and is more into bacon right now. Favorite song: Something Just Like This by Coldplay Favorite show: We are currently enjoying The Wonder Years, and some other recent favorites have been The Crown and Stranger Things. Favorite movie: Our recent favorites have been Moana, Beauty and the Beast, and Split. Favorite book: I'm rereading The Chronicles of Narnia right now and loving it, as well as Drew Barrymore's memoir. Favorite activities: Going to the movies, rummaging through D.I., getting ice cream at Reed's Dairy. Currently working on: Ben is really into woodworking right now, and he is actually building a worktable right this second. I'm working on making calligraphy/watercolor prints, and also on improving my diet and posture. :) Currently thinking about: We're planning on doing a juice cleanse soon, and trying to figure out what to pack for New York. Current events: The Idaho Falls temple open house is coming up this month!! We finished our Winter semester. We leave for New York in 14 days! Have a wonderful day! R We got home from our weekend in Utah late last night, and the house was freezing! I had turned the thermostat down for while we were gone, so the first thing I did when I got inside was run to the thermostat and turn it up to a toasty 66 degrees (we have really acclimated to Idaho winter temperatures haha!)
And when the heater came on, it smelled sooooooooo good. You know how certain scents make you remember things? Well I guess in reality the heater smelled like dust and maybe something burning, but to me it smelled like fall 2016 and moving into our first house and fall colors and perfect temperatures and learning how to cook for two and slowly accumulating furniture and those first couple months of being married and oh my goodness it smelled so good. I love you, Ben. I loved being married to you in those first couple months, and I love being married to you now. Also, will you please scratch my back? :) R Today was a great day. We got to Utah late last night, and after a blissful night's sleep (blissful because this semester is officially OVER!), we woke up to a beautiful day (and also to our cute nieces and nephew!)
We celebrated my sister-in-law's birthday, complete with a lemon cake with cream cheese icing, perfect pineapple, and a night at Comedy Sportz- a family friendly improv show. It was so fun! And hilarious! B was crying from laughing so hard. Afterwards, we all hung out at their house and talked movies and Harry Potter and weird nightmares and Anne of Green Gables and it was great. I love being around family. Goodnight! R |
